Dominic & Krystina Morris are the names behind Pondalowie. The name Pondalowie pays tribute to one of South Australia’s most pictureques area Pondalowie Bay.
Prior to establishing Pondalowie, Dominic & Krystina gained experience by working in France and in Portugal; it was here they established themselves as international winemaking super-stars. They consult to the internationally recognised Quinta do Crasto winery in the Douro Valley. Since taking over the wines have become near cult status with the Quinta do Crasto 1995 Douro Red wine winning “International Red Wine of the Year”.
They chose the famous gold & wine region of Bendigo (Central Victoria) because of the dry conditions which allowed for a balanced minimalist approach based to grape growing with strong organic principals used from the start. Copper and sulphur (organically certified) is used to treat fungicides which also nurtures nature to produce perfectly ripe fruit.
Also 11 of Quinta do Crasto wines that are made by Dominic Morris have received 90
points or more by Robert Parker Jnr. “With winemaker Dominic Morris at the helm…Crasto goes from strength to strength and its wines are in high demand.”
In 2008 the internationally prestigious wine magazine Wine Spectator named Quinta do Crasto Douro Reserva Old Vines 2005 Wine #3 in the Top 100 (wines) for 2008.
